Results NOT Typical...?

Why must this disclaimer be beneath every professional before-and-after photo?

*results not typical

AAAAAUUUUGGGHHH!!!!  Surely I'm not the only person who finds this disclaimer terrible.

It looms in the back of my mind sometimes, taunting me into believing that even if I reach my weight loss goal of losing 80 pounds, the odds against me maintaining that are nill.

RESULTS NOT TYPICAL, LEAH, SO STOP FOOLING YOURSELF.

I am sick of the fear of re-gain.  Why shouldn't my good results be typical?  Why can't we all get to our goal weights and stay there?  Why must the results be "not typical"?

As of this moment, I'm going to use that disclaimer as motivation.  But I don't want my results to be atypical.  No, I want to change the disclaimer altogether.  Let's work together to make "results not typical" a thing of the past, and start having great weight loss results be the typical thing!

A pipe dream?  Maybe.

When I get to my goal weight of 140 (10.8 pounds to go!), I will post a before and after photo for all to see, and it will say in bold print "results typical".  Because... why not?  ;-)

LOL!! Of course my legal mind goes into action. It's there to prevent false advertising law suits. When you see the people on those infomercials, they don't say how long they've been using the product/ workout program. Those infomercials can be misleading to people who've never been there.

However, when you think about it, no one's results are typical. When you look at the whole picture (mental and physical change), everyone's results are unique to that specific person.

i have never understood that either!!

"results not typical" is under every single photo for weight loss programs.

If results are typical why would I invest in your products?!

Leah-One thing that I think about is when I have conversations with other people. They ask me how I've lost weight and I say I started out doing WW and then I switched to calorie counting. Plus, I always add in that I workout/exercise a lot. Often, there's a look of disappointment on their faces. Kind of like, "Oh, I was hoping it would have been a pill or a fad diet of some kind." That's usually not directly what they say, but they do usually say things like, "I'm not motivated enough," "I don't have time to work out" or "I don't want to eat healthy." Usually I hear things like this. So what I think about with the "results not typical" disclaimer is that there are a lot of people out there who have this mentality and when they try something like WW, they often give up. You are CLEARLY not that person! You have the willpower, motivation and drive to lose weight in a healthy way. So therefore, you have what it takes to beat that disclaimer!
