21 Days No Junk Food Challenge

...Any takers?  ;-)

First of all, let me state for the record that I believe strongly in the Weight Watchers philosophy of "everything in moderation" when it comes to diet and exercise.  But I also feel like it's good for me to step outside of my comfort zone every now and again.

I found this floating around the internet, and I've decided to jump on the bandwagon.  21 days of no junk food!  This list includes a couple of items that in my opinion can be very healthy, including chocolate (dark chocolate can be healthy) and peanut butter (natural peanut butter is VERY healthy) but besides those two things, I pretty much agree that the things on this list are not foods that should be eaten every day if you have a healthy diet.

However, lately... I have been eating more junk food than usual.  Like, if I have 7 or 8 PointsPlus left at the end of the day, I will eat waffles, ice cream, oreos, potato chips, redvines, french fries, etc...  And this challenge will help me to realize that I can eat healthy snacks, and those junk foods really don't have to be eaten daily.

Here is the challenge, and I assume that the blog linked at the bottom of this picture is the original source:

Stacey has decided to join me in this challenge, and so have many members of My Fitness Pal!  If you are on MFP and wish to join in, here is the link to the challenge-  MFP 21 Day No Junk Food Challenge!

If you want to join me in this challenge, just let me know in the comments and I'll try to help keep you motivated.  It should be an tough challenge for me, but a very rewarding one in the end.  It will be good for me to discover healthy snacks, and healthier alternatives to my old snacks.

As for the peanut butter...  I am switching my JIF Natural for Martha almond butter...  I don't consider this to be a "naughty" spread, and am happy with the decision to keep a nut butter around.

So...  any takers?  :-)

wow you are brave... lol!
i don't partake too-too often but with halloween looming and three kiddos who are sure to have a buttload of junk around... eeeeks this challenge scares me!

is it bad that i would rather do the 30 day shred and allow myself some junk every now and again that to just go cold turkey? heh!

OH nice point Cyn- Halloween (junk food heaven)! eek. Maybe the night of the 31st can be the woohoo moment and we'll get to have a candy bar then (since it is 21 days exactly)... assuming we even want it at the end of this detox. ?? :) I like the idea.

I'll say I'm in! And I hope I can convince my husband too. Maybe a good challenge is all he needs. He's a junk food maniac and it definitely gets to me!

Thanks for the great idea!

I'm in. But I am going to have to start tomorrow because I ate 2 cupcakes, a piece of cheesecake and a 1/2 slice of pumpkin pie today lol

On my 3rd day of this and so far, I haven't slipped. I also believe in moderation, but know that stepping away from junk for 21 days is a good thing. Glad Stacey is doing this with you.

Even though cravings for dark chocolate are starting to kick in today, I will stick it out. Peanut butter has been the tough one for me, but I have been eating a lot of it lately. I also substituted my natural peanut butter with sunflower seed butter. Thinking about buying almond butter this week also. Good luck, we can do this!

Hi Leah! I'm doing okay on it. I started second guessing myself at lunch today because one of the guys ordered an appetizer thing, but I decided it wasn't junk food- just wasn't healthy neccesarily. I ate one chicken roll-up thing. :)

I think I need to print or write it out because I forgot about some of the stuff. I only "failed" on the chocolate. Which kind of bums me because I don't consider most of the chocolate I eat as junk food- it's pudding or chocolate Silk milk (I had that last night) that I'll have as a special dessert. That doesn't seem so bad. ? hmm... I'll try to nix it for now though. :)

Feel free to email me at foryoubylove@gmail.com whenever. Hope today went better for you!
