Reality...

I was at a birthday party on Wednesday for my little cousin.  I had a great time playing with the little kids and catching up with their parents.  I wore what I thought was a cute and comfy outfit: jeans that fit right, my Hello Kitty T-shirt and sneakers.  Here's a picture of me from that night:

Here's my issue:  When a friend tagged me on Facebook in some pictures from the party, I didn't see myself "at goal".  No, I see myself as one who still has some inches to lose.

Of course, I was PMS bloated and it could just be an unflattering outfit.  But I just wanted to come here and vent to you guys.  I'm not 100% satisfied with my body as it is.  Although I'm done trying to actively lose pounds, I still fully intend to lose a few more inches.

Plus, it's nice to be honest with you:  The pictures that I tend to share on here are completely posed and carefully selected to be the most flattering.  This is a shot of my body relaxed, in the background of a photo that was not meant to be about me.

I plan to accomplish my goal with Intuitive Eating and switching up my exercise routine even more.  And now that I'm at my goal weight, there is absolutely NO RUSH to get there.  I'm happy where I'm at, but I'm not quite done perfecting my physique.  I'll get there in time; of that I have no doubt.

Just think of how far you've come, Leah! You're an inspiration to so many people. I appreciate the honesty though, sometimes it's refreshing to know that other people have issues, too. And I have to say, you look great in that pic in my opinion. You have the right attitude about toning up, taking your time and working on it.

That last comment came out wrong. :P This picture is seriously distorted on your WW blog. Besides the fact that this is a poorly taken picture, I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I see a picture of a healthy young woman.

We're all just over critical of ourselves. Even when I was thin, I'd pick out the parts I didn't like about myself instead of looking at the good parts.

You really look great. Sometimes an unflattering shot can change our perspective on how we look. In that outfit, standing up straight and smiling? I bet you'd think differently!
And PS--I love the Hello Kitty shirt!!

I think you look fantastic!

I, also, think it's important to continue improving our health. It's a journey, not a destination. You've made a HUGE accomplishment reaching your goal weight and it's exciting and deserves recognition and celebration. You're just beginning to get comfortable in this 'new' skinny skin. It takes some time. There's always new healthy goals to reach, and may we never stop reaching!

Leah, I have the same thoughts! Most of my "current" photos that I post are posed shots that aren't necessarily the way I always look in real life.

Something to think about--you still look thin and beautiful in an un-posed shot. You might be slouching, but you still look great! Try not to be so hard on yourself. Would you look at that picture (if it was one of your friends)and think anything except for weird/ random angle...cute shirt...thin girl?

Hi Leah,
We are in the same place :) I definitely see myself in some pictures and think I still could lose some weight. But then I see other pictures and think I look SO skinny!
The thing is, we don't live our lives as photographs. We are moving beings, always in flux. I am absolutely positive that even the most gorgeous skinny celebrity sometimes looks chubby in picture. Have you ever seen a video of yourself? That's when you will really see it. I bet you're thinner than you think you are.
Also- I'm with you, not trying to lose weight, but still trying to improve. And I've managed to take an inch off my waist and hips without changing my weight at all. I'm thinking that in another year, I'm going to be amazed at the results of this. And I bet you will be too :)
